Exchanged Life

These scriptures are to show that we exchange our dead sinful life for the life of Jesus to come live in us. This comes about by the believer's co-crucifixion with Christ and becomes an experiential reality as Christ lives His life through the believer leading him to walk in the Spirit and not after the flesh.

[HEB 11:1-18 NASV] For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, can never by the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect those who draw near.
The statement above says, "For the law can not make perfect." Does this imply that something else can make perfect? What is the law for - if not to make perfect - is another subject covered in another document.

Otherwise, would they (sacrifices) not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins? The statement above implies - IF they could have - they would have.

But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year by year. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

(Are we ever reminded of our sins? Yes we are -  but God is not!  Our minds are not yet fully renewed but God's is - as shown by the blood of Jesus.) (When the reminder of our sins comes we now have only to smile as we thank our Lord Jesus that we need no more sacrifice and only should praise Him by presenting our body for His use while He is renewing our mind.)

Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, "Sacrifice and offering Thou hast not desired, But a body Thou hast prepared for Me; In whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin Thou hast taken no pleasure. The sacrifices were setup to make the people feel good. God all ready felt good because of His knowledge of the (very form to come) the sacrifice of His son Jesus taking away the sins of the world

(Jesus talking) "Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come (In the roll of the book it is written of Me) To do Thy will, O God."

After saying above, "Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin Thou hast not desired, nor hast Thou taken pleasure in them" (which are offered according to the Law), then (Jesus talking) He said, "Behold, I have come to do Thy will." He takes away the first (will) in order to establish the second. (will)

By this (second will) we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. (one offering once for all) (not many bodies many times) One body One body One body One body One body One body One body One time One time One time One time One time One time One time One time .

(During the first will) And every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time onward until His enemies be made a footstool for His feet.

For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, "This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws upon their heart, And upon their mind I will write them," He then says,

"And their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any (no need of) offering for sin. (not only is there no need of any more forgiveness - there will not be any other offering {Jesus} for sin.)

Because there is only one offering - one time, we sure need to make sure we

have done our part to get in on this deal. What is our part? Our part is to

present (Abraham's son as the sacrifice would not do) the sacrifice God prepared for us. We must accept the truth not just hear the truth. We know we have accepted the truth when the truth - we accepted - begins to produce love for the brethren.

When the truth we accepted begins to produce it may look to those around us as if we are keeping the law. In God's time, The love produced by His truth in us - will shine through to those Jesus calls to us. The exchange is my life for His.

Christ in me - the hope of glory. By: Bob George
